Xbox Scorpio Price Leak

By: Jay Parks (GrimlockTheDino)

Microsoft revealed the Specs for the Xbox Scorpio about 2 weeks ago, but they did not talk about a release date or price point. Do not fear! With 52 days until Microsoft's big E3 event (June 11th), it looks like one online retailer has revealed the price for Xbox Scorpio.

Reported by Twitter user DesiXBL, the Spanish online store, Xtralife, has listed the Xbox One Scorpio and according to the listing, the console’s price is € 399.99. Converting this to the US dollar, it comes out to $430.53.

Phil Spencer has been quoted as saying that the Xbox Scorpio is not being built to compete with high end PCs, allowing Microsoft to be more aggressive with pricing.

"I want Scorpio to be at a console price-point, I’m not trying to go and compete with a high-end rig. And because we’re building one spec, we’re able to look at the balance between all the components and make sure that it’s something we really hit that matters to consumers and gamers."

The € 399.99 ($430) price point would be perfect, releasing the new high-end console from Microsoft at the same price point as last year's PS4 Pro. Sony could respond to this by dropping the PS4 Pro to € 349.99 ($376), but you are still left with a €/$ 50 difference, with better specs on the Xbox Scorpio.

Microsoft has been battling an uphill fight this console generation and the Xbox Scorpio could be the device to help them level out the playing field and gain some traction with both developers and fans.

What do you think? Would this price point entice you to buy an Xbox Scorpio? What else do you need to see from Microsoft at E3?
