Nindies Summer 2018 Showcase - A Fanboy's Reaction

On August 28th, Nintendo followed up their Nintendo Direct focused on indie titles on the Switch with.... a Nintendo Direct.  About more indie titles.... coming to the Switch.

Let's take a look and gauge my excitement of these "new" games coming soon.

Hyper Light Drifter - Special Edition:  It's a critically acclaimed, incredible, pixel art, behemoth of an adventure game. I'll be the judge of that on September 6th, but the hype has got me.  8.5/10
TowerFall Ascension:  I.  Can't.  Wait.  6 person multiplayer will look GREAT in the Nintendo Lounge.  11/10
Treasure Stack:  I can appreciate a good gimmick as much as the next guy, but action/platform/Tetris hybrid doesn't do it for me.  4.2/10
Zarvot:  Blocks that shoot each other? Origami thunder domes? A block cannon on a banana?  It's a bit too much buzz for not enough hype.  4.1/10
Mineko's Night Market:  This game is about cats, and petting cats, and a mythical Sasquatch cat while managing some sort of shop?  You had me at "cat".  8/10
Samurai Gunn 2:  2D, low effort, action platformer.  Not interested.  3/10
Bullet Age:  The art style is very appealing to me and there's a ton of guns.  8.3/10
The World Next Door:  This is giving me Oxenfree PTSD about some stupid point and click story adventure.  No.  A hundred thousand nos.  -1/10
Levelhead:  "Super Mario Maker didn't come to the Switch so let's do something similar."  Solid strategy, but I'm giving this a real big thinking emoji until I can see how well they executed on it.  ?/10
King of the Hat:  It's like Smash Bro's but the only thing you do is try to knock off each other's hat?  This feels like a game that was a half baked 2D party fighter that they bailed on and they're trying to get some money out of the assets they already completed.  1.4/10
Untitled Goose Game:  I cannot wait to play this game.  You play as some asshole goose trying to ruin people's days.  SIGN ME UP.  9/10

SIZZLE REEL TIME!
Desert Child:  A side scrolling racer?  Nobody asked for this.  3/10
Wasteland 2 - Director's Cut:  What is this?  1/10
Bastion:  Yep, I'll buy this a fourth time.  9.2/10
The Messenger:  A slightly higher effort 2D action platformer with ninjas.  3.5/10
Undertale:  I heard it's really good, but then again I also heard Earthbound was really good.  TBD/10
Jackbox Party Pack 5:  The fifth time I don't buy into this series on Switch.  4/10
Transistor:  Never played.  Always wanted to.  It has my interest and will likely get my money.  7/10
Dragon - Marked for Death:  Too colorful.  3.7/10
Light Fingers:  I'm intrigued because I have no idea what's going on.  6.7/10
Superbrothers - Sword & Sworcery EP:  I hate the way it looks but love the way it sounds.  You must play it with headphones.  This is a big 'no' as replay for me, though.  5.8/10

LAST BUT NOT LEAST!
Into the Breach:  It looks like the type of game I'd love, and I've been told by multiple people that I would love it, however I've spent far too much money on grid based strategy games in the last 6 months.  Someone buy it for me.  $/10

And that's it!  Nintendo came out swinging with their second installment of indie title reveals in the last 10 days, and it leaves us wanting nothing else...
...besides some news about some legitimate AAA titles.

Let's talk about these releases over in the Discord, or leave a comment below, and until next time -- Game On!
